Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshis Island Score question

So since i have the ambassador program on my 3DS i've been playing super mario advance 3 which has the remake yoshis island (or super mario world 2) on it.

Pretty much beaten the game except i am a little lost on something. When you go to the score screen i know it tells you your scores but down near the total number of your score is there are stamps of baby mario. What do they represet and how do you actually get them? I'm just going through the levels and some worlds have more than others.
