I know nothing when it comes to the difference between different types of memory, motherboards, psus, etc.

I currently already have a 500gb SSD, an H100i (so you don't need to worry about that for the build) and am wanting the best possible build for my remaining budget of $2500 CAD. I will be wanting an optical drive and a media card reader(s). I know that I'll be wanting a 1080 ti and a 7700k.

Help a dummy out.

A pc part picker list would be optimal.

What's the primary use? If you're mostly gaming, what resolution?

Gaming, 1440p, slight, not not drastic/harmful overclocking down the road.

A GTX 1070/1080 is fine for 1440p if you don't want the extra expense of a 1080 ti especially if it is a 60Hz panel.

If it really has to be a 1080ti, please don't get the founders edition cards. Their cooling and clock count are always inferiror to the aftermarket ones. If I was in your place, if you are willing to spend so much  money wait for the non-FE1080ti to be released. It is more viable by then (also from a price-perfomance standpoint, since the FE cards are more expensive).

Pretty late reply on my end, but don't worry. I'm probably going to be going with whatever contraption EVGA comes out with next. The rest of the parts I just wanted to get together and start installing programs and everything.
