Setting up Folding At Home

I want to do folding at home but cant use the cpu to do it as i run vms with the same cpu and if i try running folding at home the vms start to have issues. I was wondering if there was a way i could set it to only use my gpu this way i can not hurt the virtual machines i run off my cpu while letting my gpu do the folding.

What happens when you run that folding stuff from inside an VM?

I suffer performance issues when running my vms and doing folding at the same time. I mean folding on the host and running a vm on the host. I want to prevent this issue as the vm i run works as a server.

Yes you can turn cpu off completely but I'm at work right now so I don't know where. 

But for starters you can just pause the cpu by right clicking on it and select pause.

The CPU slot can be removed.

Click on Configure.  Click on Slot tab.  Click CPU down in the Folding slot area.  Click Remove button and then click Save.

 

Note though, if folding on GPU, especially Nvidia, keep a CPU thread available for the GPU.
