no volumes on a ssd

ssd shows up in device manager but it wont show volumes in disk management or partion manger

its an samsung 850 pro 256gb

 

any ideas

so you can't see any volumes in partition editor, but can you see the disk at all in partition editor ? at least just the big unallocated space with the error telling you about needing to be initialised ?

when i list disk its not there.

and the properties tab crashes half the time

oooh tha's not good. does explorer hang sometimes while the drive is connected ?

it did have windows on it but it bluescreened and ended up having the volumes disappear

sounds like a bad drive or sata port on ur MOBO, try another sata port and go back into diskpart from an elevated CMD. if you still can't see the device in diskpart, next step is boot up some linux environment from a USB and run gparted, if gparted can't see the drive, unfortunately it goes in the bin

its already been tried in a 3 different ports

samsung disk magician software crashes untill the drive has been removed and then it works fine

interesting though how device manager can still see it, maybe the controller is OK but the flash is dead ?

lol at this point you got nothing to lose, take it out of the casing and put it in the oven Linus style, see if that fixes it
