Optiplex CPU/GPU upgrade?

Robitzu

I.ve got an old optiplex 360 and i was wondering if it could suport an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 ghz

and a Sapphire Radeon R7 250 512SP Edition 1GB GDDR5 128-bit Lite. And would the GPU fit in the case?

The PSU is of 255w

you would most likely have to install a new psu for a gpu to be installed

the motherboard uses proprietary 24 pin connectors so that's most likely not an option. And as fas as I could tell that GPU has no additional power conenctors. draws all its power from the pcie slot.

I can't find if the PCIe slot is gen 1 or 2 anywhere so if you want to make sure before you buy you'll have to wip up some google fu :)

Could the PSU hold an r7 240?

30W... I think so. But that's barely an upgrade to your current card?

So the only thing i can upgrade is the processor right?Cuz a GPU upgrade is a no go

more or less. And i'm not 100% sure about the CPU upgrade. The chip set does support it, but your board might not deliver enough power etc.

If you're good with soldering you could try a different PSU, but your biggest choke point is the GPU.  Which form factor is the 360, that you're using?  If it is the small form factor tower, you're also going to have limited ability in space for the PSU, even if you did try to solder the proprietary connector.
