60fps for Dell UHD monitor

Heyya Linus's Tech Tippers,

 

Just a quick question Im looking to buy a Dell P2715Q 27" for business and gaming (I run my own company so its k) but I was just wondering which graphics cards would support my display with 60+ fps gaming if possible at some of the max settings. I have a i5 4690k cpu so that might bottle neck the card a bit although it is overclocked to 4.9ghz.

4k 60fps on ultra is currently impossible with any one card, but high in most cases looks almost identical, and should be doable with a GTX 1080. I would however encourage you to wait at least until February 28, as that is when Nvidia is rumored to release the 1080ti, which should have a significant performance bump.

Other: Added 3x Noctua NF-F12 intake, 2x Noctua NF-A8 exhaust, Inatek 5 port USB 3.0 expansion card with usb 3.0 front panel header

Details: 12GB ram, GTX 1080, USB card passed through to windows 10 VM. VM's OS drive is the SATA SSD. Rest of resources are for Plex, Duplicati, Spaghettidetective, Nextcloud, and game servers.

Titan XP is stronger than the 1080 I beleive.

Correct, but only marginally; it still doesn't get 4k ultra 60fps and still has to resort to high settings, at which point the 1080 is arguably the better choice considering the drastically better performance/price. However, as I said above, the OP should wait for the 1080ti.

Or the VEGA cards from AMD. Who know how well those will perform! :D

Currently the 1080 is the only option as the Titan X is just too much for the money, but i would advise waiting for AMD Vega and the possible 1080Ti. I play 4K with GTAV, Mirrors Edge Catalyst, Witcher 3 and i don't hit 60fps at max settings, they are playable though.
