THANK YOU

So I plan on RGBifying my system (when I actually get around to building it) and I was going to buy this 5m RGB LED strip

ie=UTF8&qid=1484679295&sr=8-5&keywords=5050+rgb+strip+300+12v

and plug it into my motherboards (a GIGABYTE GA-Z270MX-Gaming 5) RGBW header. But I need a 4-pin extension to go from the motherboard header to the edge of the case. (A Corsair Carbide Air 240) Would this one work?

I know it's a "fan" extension cable but still. And, if it doesn't work, why is there no better way to classify different types of 4-pin connectors? I searched the internet for ages but couldn't find this question answered anywhere.

Also, none of the parts for this build have even been ordered yet, I just like to plan everything ahead.

EDIT:

Could I use these

with these

instead of that fan connector?

They do make extensions specifically for those connectors, something like this would be ideal, you will require a 5 pin RGWB system for the connector as you may have problems interfacing with the 5 pin connector on the motherboard with regular 4 pin systems.

The product page says that regular RGB connectors are compatible with the header
