2nd generation i5

Hey, so, I planned a cheap used gaming build a few weeks ago and I ended up ordering from ebay a xeon E5450, an LGA 775 msi motherboard, an nvidia GTX 660, 8GB of ram and a brand new case and power supply, all together for £235 (postage costs where high, so if you live in the UK, it would be much cheaper) but the motherboard got lost during postage so I got a refund and changed my mind about the xeon and returned it, then I ordered a new gigabyte LGA 1155 motherboard and I want to use any core i5 2320-2500/K. Now, this motherboard, from what I read online, hasn't got any kind of overclocking feature in the bios, so, if I buy the i5 2500K, would I be able to overclock it using just the intel extreme tuning utility?

if it's a Z68, Z77, or P67 board then you CAN overclock. if not, then not.

Hi again, so, the seller was taking long to ship my motherboard, and I noticed he had an msi h61m-p31/w8 motherboard for sale at the exact same price (something I didn't notice before I bought the gigabyte one) and I asked him if he could cancel my order and I would buy the msi motherboard and he sen't me the msi one instead, no need to cancel it or anything. So, would this be a good motherboard to overclock? I know it has some overclock abilities, but would I be able to overclock a core i5 2500 non-K? I would like to overclock, but not too much, as I'm not buying an expensive cooler, maybe a cooler master A116, I just want to get a bit more out of it.

See what I wrote earlier. You HAVE to have an Z77, Z68 or P67 chipset board in order to overclock. 

Your's is H61 which is basically the lowest end shitty chipset. 

So either you get a new board or you can NOT overclock. 

 

Edit: oh and you can't overclock a non-k CPU in the first place. 

So either 2500k or no OC.
