4 sticks of ram on dual channel slots

Hi guys.

Any advantage or point in purchasing any more ram sticks if your Motherboard only supports dual channel?

Let's say, your first 2 slots is used for 2x4gb DDR4 2400, any particular reason where you'll need to add any more other than reaching that 16gb or other than just looks (putting more rams in PC is sexy, IMO.) ?

Can someone cite me some instance where it's beneficial to add more ram than usual on a dual channel motherboard?

Looking for "enlightenment". LOL.

Thanks!

As far as I know more channels of ram does not help you in any way. Linus actually did a video on the fact that ram speed does not effect applications.

On a dual channel rated board, 2 sticks and 4 sticks of the same amount of RAM will be ... the same.

Nope.  You pretty much got it right here, lol.

Some configs, mainly Pentium and i3's, will benefit from having more sticks due to more bandwidth being available for use.
