Dark theme for Windows 10 file explorer?

MoonlightSylv

I'm just wondering if there's one, it doesn't have to be official, it just has to work.

Theres an official in the anniversary update.

I believe its in the same menu where you can pick your accent color for the start menu.

The anniversary update shows up as update 1607 in updates.

Prior to the update, it was a reg edit.

Now its alot easier.

Link showing all the new things in the anniversary update. The video covers the dark theme.

Yeah but it doesn't affect the file explorer.

Soon, maybe: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/67952532/customatic-make-windows-10-look-and-work-the-way-y/description

I don't get why they need funding.. they can release it and ask for donations... maybe they plan to sale it.

That looks awesome.

Two options

1)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3lojp5/windows_10_dark_theme_everyone_keeps_asking_so/

2)

I have used both and they work (on 1151 at least) as long as you follow the instructions exactly.

NEW PC build: Blank Heaven   minimalist white and black PC     Old S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

Spoiler

Ryzen 3950X | AMD Vega Frontier Edition | ASUS X570 Pro WS | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB | NZXT H500 | Seasonic Prime Fanless TX-700 | Custom loop | Coolermaster SK630 White | Logitech MX Master 2S | Samsung 980 Pro 1TB + 970 Pro 512GB | Samsung 58" 4k TV | Scarlett 2i4 | 2x AT2020

That only changes the default windows 10 apps (calculator, settings, etc), not explorer, control panel, or everything else.

Rainmeter is basically Android widgets for Windows, you could possibly create a fake file explorer with it but it wouldn't function nearly as good as the built in one.

All these suggested (beside the video) by you guys just enable high-contrast mode, which I don't get why they suggest to go through hoops to get it, when you can just do Shift + Alt + Print Screen on your keyboard. Do it again, to switch back.

But that is not what the OP really wants. The solution is to modify the theme system file to take no digitally signed theme, and inject yours, which I believe is what the video above does.
