After Effects crashing

Sorry if this is the wrong subforum, been here a while but still not sure about the topics of my questions xD

Anyway, I am trying to edit a video in after effects but I am having some difficulty.

1. Previewing takes like 30 seconds to start

2. It crashes randomly when previewing sometimes

3. Trouble making good videos

I haven't really tried anything, I am stuck and don't know what to do :(

I have made sure that AE is updated.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

And I honestly doubt it's because my pc isn't strong enough:

Have you updated all your drivers to the latest? Go into the preferences and check so you have assigned a decent amount of cores and ram for AE to use. Also make sure you have the GPU enabled in AE, also in the preferences. Other than that I really don't know what could cause the troubles.

Do you have a lot of other stuff running in the background maybe?

Is your render engine set to CUDA or is it defaulted to software?

As for Qube's suggestion on cores/ram, they have removed that option for mutli-processor encoding in AE CC. so you won't find the Ram per CPU option.  You can up the ram for overall adobe software, however unless the ram was lowered, I couldn't see a reason for it to keep crashing.

The ram is set to around 8Gb... I think that's enough

How shall I check if the render egine is set to CUDA or software? Sorry, a bit new to this editing scene
