Help me decide on a Surface pro 4!

Hey all

So I'm stuck between two options for the surface pro 4...

Intel i5 w/ 128gb ssd and 4gb of ram for $899.00 and the type cover for $115. Total of $924 (w/ 10% off surface)

or

Intel i5 w/ 256gb SSD and 8Gb of ram for $1199.00 and type cover for 115. $1194 (w/ 10% off surface)

its a $270 difference for double the storage of an SSD and RAM.

Something I could do is get a 128GB micro SD ($50-100 on Amazon) and a 128GB USB 3.0 ($30-60). so an extra 256GB of MicroSD and USB ontop of a 128GB SSD for less than half of the price for the 256GB SSD model.

SHould I go that route?

I owned a Surface Pro 3 which had all the WiFi and Overheating problems and microsoft laughed me off when I asked them to repair it, even within warranty period.

Surface Pros are something I'd avoid.

From what I've read, they've released updates/fixes that stopped overheating/battery drain issues pretty recently.

My Surface is still completely unusable, and I got an email from Microsoft telling me to not use my Surface Pro 3 because the charger they included has a risk of catching fire, so theyre sending me a new charger too.

Plagued with issues.

I love my Surface Pro 4.

I originally had the i5 4Gb one and I was running out or memory.  For me the upgrade to the 8Gb version was completely worth it.

I'd say get the bigger capacity one simply to avoid being upset at yourself later for not getting more space

what were you running in order to run out of memory? I wasnt planning on anything intensive like editing any media and whatnot. whatever a student would use a laptop for. Notetaking, surfing, etc. No games or anything.

sketchup, matlab, excel, lightroom, and lots of chrome tabs.

I'm an engineering student so some of my school stuff can be pretty resource intensive
