For my brother-in-law; I will buy a Chromecast Audio (yeah I know, cheap Sonos ^^)

Very easy to set up, and easy to connect.

His Denon audio system his very good but old, so it lacks connectivity.

And since we all have a Android, we will all be able to listen to what ever we want, when we want.

Last month I gave my girlfriend a pair of Beyerdynamic's DT990 and a headphone amplifier, but she is back to her old crappy headphones because she didn't like the ammount of bass on the DT990s. I would like to give her a pair of DT880 then, since it doesn't have much bass and sounds more open. http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-880-Premium-600-Headphones/dp/B0024NK35S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1449160786&sr=8-2&keywords=dt880

I would get my parents the Western Digital Mycloud EX2 since my parents have been using the same external hard drive for 10 years to back up the files and I think it would be a good idea since it would be easier to use than what our current solution is, moving the drive around to back up files.  Another reason is that the server where she is supposed to store her files at work isn't reliable and the FTP function might be helpful for whenever it goes down (at least once a week).

A new Motorola Arris Surfboard SBG6782AC modem/gateway for my parents and brother who still lives with them. Here's the Amazon link for that.  $149.99 at the time I posted this.

They're relatively tech literate when it comes to figuring out options for watching TV, like a DVR or even newer offerings on their Amazon Fire TV box.  But they're still using an old DOCSIS 2.0 modem/gateway (think it's an Ubee) that only has wireless G!  My mom paid out of pocket so she wouldn't pay a monthly bill for leasing the modem but hasn't felt like upgrading and I don't think she really understands how great of an improvement they would have with a new modem/gateway/router setup.  Meanwhile they've moved away from using a desktop so much but my mom, step dad, and brother each have an iPad (think an Air, a 4th Gen, and a 1st gen my brother got as an early tablet adopter but that's about to get upgraded for Christmas to an Air 2) plus an iPhone and two Android phones.  All of these devices are capable of using Wireless N speeds and all but the oldest iPad can use AC which would be great since most of them are sitting in the living room where the wireless gateway would be located anyway.

Most of them stream video or music in the evening from YouTube, Amazon Music, or Prime Video, usually all of them doing something different while something is on the TV.  I know that they're saturating that poor modem's capabilities, and I know they're supposed to be getting at least 60Mbps down from the ISP (probably 100Mbps down now, they have an awesome cable ISP) but the modem can only get to 30Mbps.

Ideally I'd set them up with a separate modem and router configuration as I've had better experiences with external routers in terms of throughput and range.  Something like this Motorola Surfboard 6183 and a Netgear R7000 which would be compatible with their ISP and be just a few dollars under $300.  I assume for the giveaway it needs to only be one item purchase from Amazon though, and I'm sure my mom would appreciate not seeing external antennae sticking out of a box on their entertainment stand.

I would definitly buy a Pebble Time Steel for my brother, Because he still has an iphone 4s as a daily driver(with a cracked screen ofc) and he will be upgrading to an android in the near future so it needs to be compatible with both IOS and Android. now the link is to the german amazon (neighboring country) because our Amazon only sells books and other random goodies.

http://www.amazon.de/Pebble-Steel-Smart-Watch-schwarz/dp/B011VB1XDE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449161979&sr=8-1&keywords=pebble+time+steel

Note: this is 299 euros which is a bit higher than 300 dollars so if the above one is too high this would be just as good

This would be such and amazing gift.

(Thank you Santa Sebastian and your bigger helpers)

We have a very unstable Wifi here in our home. While I am still rocking Ethernet for my products, and rarely use Wifi, the same can't be said for my family members, who are dependent on the wifi working properly. While it works 90% of the time, the 2,4GHz signal from our router is very unstable, while the 5GHz can only be accessed by some of our devices.

Therefore, I'd like to give my parents a new router, to help them enjoy their stuff more efficiently, and with my little brother getting into gaming again, he could gamestream with his Shield tablet.

Cheers!

i would like to gift this nvidia shield tv to my mom and dad as my tv is not a smart tv. I remember my mom asks me to change the input of the tv everytime even though she knows how to. also because my family is heavily into the google ecosystem the shield would be easy for them to use.
