CPU Unpark

I have a i5 4690k and i used the CPU unpark tool.

It shows only three cores which are Core 0,1,2

But my CPU has four cores, why is it like this?

Can anyone with the same CPU confirm,

TIA

Windows 7 can only park physical cores, so it doesn't do anything on an i5

Molex to SATA, lose all your data

But i have seen my CPU usage increase a lot in games like crysis 3 with little to no fps diffrence.

Does unparking cores increase CPU Usage?

It should decrease it,.. instead of 2 main threads running on core 0+1 with 2+3 parked, it should...hopefully unpark, and balance the load a little bit more, even if its 10% each on core 3+4 thats less load on the first two cores...

Thats if I am thinking correctly...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

check your bios to make sure you don't have any disabled cores there. i did use the core unpark tool with my i5 and i have 0 issues what so ever, no point in using it as intel cpus are quite powerful. it helps with amd because of the CMT architecture.

My rig:
CPU: i5 4690k 24/7 @4.4ghz (1.165v) Max 4.7ghz (1.325v) COOLER: NZXT Kraken X61 MOBO: Asus Z97-A   RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical   GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC   PSU: EVGA GS 650W   CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB + WD Black 2TB

i checked but i still see that CPU1 usage is high than the rest.

I ran Games, benchmarks and the same result.

Windows 7?

  1. go to your registry
  2. search for this key: 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583
  3. change value max to 0 (zero)
  4. Repeat these steps a couple of times, the key can exists multiple times.
  5. reboot system.

That's normal. A thread can only be processed by one core and some threads require more work than others
