Wireless card buying help?

SirReallySam

So I'm moving in somewhere with no cabled internet and my desktop doesn't have wifi...

So I'm thinking about buying either a PCI E card like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-WDN4800-Wireless-Express-Adapter/dp/B007GMPZ0A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431535240&sr=8-1&keywords=TP-LINK+TL-WDN4800&tag=linustechtips-21

EDIT: perhaps something like this only if it's worth the extra money though

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-wireless-network-card-pceac68

or perhaps something like this (powerline adapter)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-PA411KIT-Powerline-Adapter-Starter/dp/B0084Y9N3O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431535350&sr=8-1&keywords=TP-LINK&tag=linustechtips-21

If I'm honest I know nothing about networking properly and was wondering what people would suggest.

My budget is around £50

It's really not possible to run cable to my new flat unfortunately, I really would if I could... But alas no.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

What do people even put in these things?

I personally use the WDN4800 (The first PCI-E Card you linked) and I love it. Have yet to have any issues with the card. I recommend it.

It'd be great if you could get an electrical wiring diagram for the place. Then you'd be able to see how effective Powerline would be. If everything's on the same circuit, I'd go for Powerline.

Sig under construction.

If you can run powerline it will be better than wireless. Pretty sure it will, might be wrong.

Hmm, when you say no cabled internet, would that mean you will have to get mobile 3G/LTE data? Or did you mean wherever the router is is too far away from your desktop to have a wired networking environment?

I'm assuming that he'll have some form of cabled internet but he won't be able to run cables across the property.

Asuming the wireing is relatively ne, powerline is your best option. Wireless can be crap sometimes

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

Well depending on the wiring in the new house, but anything 20 years or less should have proper ones.  Either is fine really.
