Does the Asus Z97-WS support ECC RAM?

So does it?

Incredibly likely.

At first I thought yeah definitely. But the Asus site says not it seems. Supported memory:

4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 3300(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3100(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2600(O.C.)/2500(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory *

both the motherboard and CPU have to support it

Oh yeah regarding the ECC memory. Was thinking of only CPU compatibility.

Im pretty sure that Xeons are the only CPUs with ECC memory support. Edit: Yep regular Cpus like the 4790K won't work with ECC.

Z97 boards dont support ECC so nope.

only C-series 1150 boards support ECC.

Intel C222 / C224 / C226 chipset boards to be more specific

Cpu´s that support ECC:

- Xeon E3´s

- celeron´s

- Pentum G´s

- Core i3´s.

;)

I actually agree it doesn't. So how about you clarify why it does?

because the claim that only Xeon E3's support ECC is wrong.

I´m not going to be too bitchy about it. :D.

No, I mean support it with a source. You know, sources? Yes? Sintezza knows sources?

(Not being a dick. Just would like a source better than "some guy on a forum"

Wow, you learn something new every day :D I wonder why i5's and i7's dont support it...seems strange that all those bottom end CPU's support ECC but not the good stuff lol
