PCI-E 3.0 and Sandy Bridge Processor

mr_bungle

I have a Asus P8Z68-v Delux/GEN3 motherboard and 2700k I7 Sandy Bridge Processor. I currently have a MSI GTX 580 Lightning and was running 2 of them in SLI . One of them started artifacting and has been RMA'd Twice now and a replacement is not looking promising so i was thinking of upgrading to 2 GTX 680's . Would i loose performance if i didn't upgrade the CPU to an IVY Bridge?

The performance difference between PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0 is literally nothing. There is no difference currently, PCI-E 3.0 just doubles the bandwidth of PCI-E 2.0, but none of the GPUs currently in the market even fully utilize PCI-E 2.0.

You'll be just fine.

Runs fine for me mate.

There is a very slight benefit when running 3x1080p though
