enable 5.1 speaker system in everything

almost done with new build. I set up this Logitech Z605 5 speaker system plus sub woofer. got it to work on youtube but all 5 speakers do not work in games and iTunes/Widows Media Player. how do i enable the surround system for everything? the sound check in both windows and FX Supreme works for all 5 plus sub woofer.

 

is there a setting in steam/origin to enable surround sound?
