PSU making static noises

Hello,

I was hoping someone here could help identify/fix my problem.

I've recently made upgrades to my computer and decided to silence my

fans using the Asus fan xpert which worked magnificently.

However since my fans are now practically silent im hearing an unusual

static noise coming from my psu. Its a light static buzzing that seems to

occur every time i type/ move mouse/etc. Pretty much doing anything on

my computer besides it just sitting around. I have tested everything and

the noise is definitely from my psu. I could not find much online about this

occurrence besides it possibly being from a capacitor vibrating? Not quite

sure what to do besides opening it up and messing with it so before i do

that i thought asking the community first would be best. Any help or ideas

is much appreciated. The psu is a corsair gs600 and my motherboard if it

matters is a Asus f2a85v-pro. Thanks!

It could actually be your Gpus'  coil whine since your computer is relatively silent now, you can hear it. Try playing a game, that should make it squeel, if not, it may not be the gpu,

One thing to note is that the sound does not occur in bios setup

What happens if you unplug everything, fans, even the hard drive from the PSU so only the motherboard and CPU is powered?

Try put bios in fail safe default settings.

Do you see any damaged or bulging capacitors in the PSU? i'm just throwing everything i can think of.

Its coil whine. You can RMA the PSU if it bothers you. Just call Corsair

If I strip it down to bare minimum just motherboard and cpu the sound still occurs.there are no visual signs of damage or bulging capacitors on any component of the psu.

If it's coil whine shouldn't it occur more or less during heavy gaming /3d rendering? Like wouldn't the sound increase or decrease in volume. This is just constant throughout any type of stress on the pc.

I'm not original owner of the Psu so I believe rma is out of the question.

Older psus of course will wine at lower thresholds but it also has to do with the quality of it. How old is it?

Also there is a notable amount of people who complain about Corsair psus having coil whine then RMAd' it for a better one (HX series seems to be the most coil whine resistant to my knowledge)

Its a bit steep for me currently and has unnecessary features for my build.

Being semi/modular for a 650 watt supply seems, to me at least, not worth the

price as I would either be using all the cables or at most have a cable or two

tucked away which doesnt bother me as im fairly good at cable management.
