I have to say, I'm impressed with Focusrite's support. For those of you with similar problems this might help you on your way:

Hello

Thank you for your email to Focusrite Technical Support UK. Very sorry to hear about your problems, we will do everything we can to get it working for you.

Could you start by optimising your Windows 8 PC for audio by following the steps in the following article:http://global.focusrite.com/answerbase/optimising-your-pc-for-audio-on-windows-8

If you are running the latest drivers (v2.5.1) and you still encounter issues, then it might be worth trying to download the latest beta versions of the drivers from our Beta website. You can download v3.1.8 from here: http://beta.focusrite.com/releases/focusrite_usb2_drivers/

Please read this article to see if it helps at all:

Let me know how you get on.

Thank you again for your email, I look forward to hearing from you.

I've had the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 sound card for a while now, and I've had a "problem" with it since I bought it really.

Every time I start up my PC I have to unplug the sound card, and plug it back in. If I don't do that both in- and outgoing sound will sound like a distorted robot voice (impossible to make out words or even melodies).

I've tried plugging it into USB2, USB3, USB hubs, updating drivers, uninstalling the drivers and doing a fresh install, formatting my PC... I've even changed motherboard lately due to a re-build of my PC. The problem still persists.

Has anyone been experiencing this?

Audio devices can be a bit of a pain, can't they? Maybe it is an issue with your case? Have you tried on a laptop already? If you've still got warranty on it you could try to send it back...

Indeed they can :)

I've actually change case at the same time as the motherboard. The only thing I brought over from the old case was the SSD, CPU and PSU. Don't really have a laptop to test it on, so I'll go have a chat with Focusrite and see what their support can do (will update the thread if they come up with a solution).

  • 1 year later...
  • 10 months later...

FINALLY, the beta version finally fixed my problem after so long and after so much research around this problem. For once I can relax and don't worry about re-plugging the usb cable over-and over....

Thanks alot! <3
