I have not yet decided on my motherboard. I would like to have crossfire capabilities, USB 3 and reasonable overclocking abilities.

I have a budget of around £80 although I can go a bit over.

I have found the Asus m5a97 r2.0 for £70 or should I spend the extra money on the m5a99x evo r2.0

I have never overclocked a CPU but I still would like to be able to in the future.

Any thoughts?

Thank You

Spend your little bit extra on the 990fxa-ud3 from gigabyte. Though my previous board was the m5a99x evo and it was a pretty decent board, good aesthetics on both the gigabyte and asus :)

if you can spend more on better cooling for the VRM then i would always go the better one. the 970 series is good but the 990fx is better. i currently have the asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0 and it is a beast with my fx-4100 oc to 4.2ghz on air

I looked around a bit more and i came across this which is over your budget but it has just about everything you will need, up to 4 gpus(dammit wanted 6) oc for ram. Ultra durable so you can throw it at your siblings and you can be sure they will be hurt but not the board. Anyways this is what i found: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/AMD+Socket/Socket+AM3%2B+Piledriver+FX/GIGABYTE+GA-990FXA-UD3+AMD+990FX+%28Socket+AM3%2B%29+ATX+Motherboard+?productId=54473
