Anti malware = Anti virus?

N0ksuu

Helloo!

So the title says a lot, so my subscription of Kapresky anti virus just ended so i decided to try out Malwarebytes anti- malware. The problem is that i thought that malware is equal to Viruses, but windows don't agree, cause it constantly wants me to download an anti-virus program.

Nyt quiestion is that do i really need another software ontop of my malwarebytes?

Thanks!

Malwarebytes + Microsoft Security Essentials is all you will need. I haven't had any antivirus software for the past 2 years and I have scanned my PC a few days ago and I had 0 viruses. Keep in mind I download a lot of random crap.

Malwarebytes anti-malware + Avast free antivirus are a great combo.

No malwarebytes will not do the job of an antivirus, it is for more of just scanning for and removing malware, not as much of preventing it.

Malware are not necessarily viruses and the 2 are not interchangable

While I personally do not use an antivirus something like Avast/AVG is a great alternative for free, although something paid for like Bitdefender is a great program worth the money IMO

Viruses and malware are not the same. I spent a lot of time a few weeks ago trying to clean a computer riddled with viruses and malware. I ran 4 malware programs without being able to remove this last annoying malware. Turns out it was a virus and it was after I ran an anti-virus program that I finally managed to remove it.

Now I have Malwarebytes Pro + Norton Internet Security 2014. It's a great combo, they work together seamlessly.
