Budget build

Wondering what kind of build I can do. Something below 800 without monitor keyboard and mouse. If seen some crazy stuff out there like a 400 build. And people always tell me if you want something decent lowest you can go is 800.

Sample Build

  • I choose a CPU that doesn't overclock in case you don't care about that kind of stuff.
  • Decent GPU for good performance at 1080P
  • I went a SSD + HDD combo, SSD will definitely makes everything feel more snappy

Where abouts are you from, too? Big difference between USD and AUD, for example.

+1 for this build

If you are going for an i5, look at this first : http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/147784-i5-4430-on-sale/#entry1974456

Also, the for under $50 the Line-M and the  N200/N400 are both good options.  Pick whichever looks better / has features you care about.

Hurry up if you are getting the SSD, the sale ends today (I got one today :D )

Do you have an operating system as well? That's the first thing I do before I build my PC, add the operating system before anything else. (Are you going to use Potato 3.0?)

Is that a joke or is that a Debian based os?

Just out of curiosity, why the 7700k and 280x?

Also, the V300 ssd uses different flash, and isn't nearly as good as before.  The M500 and Adata SP900 are good choices.  The  PNY XLR8 PRO 120gb and 240gb models are on sale, for $60 and $125 respectively.

Why would you have an APU and get a relatively expensive graphics card. I'd rather get an i5 and a slightly lower-end graphics card, or this build:

It's for a gaming build but also some other stuff like modeling video editing adobe products. But mainly for gaming. I do favor AMD and also micro ATX or ITX, just like the small form factor. OS I'm going with windows 7. But I do like the AMD build since I favor and more than intel. but the first one venturizhou provided with the i5 sounds good.

 - If you can, the i5 4430 is a great deal  :  http://linustechtips...e/#entry1974456
       - If you cant get it for $99, the i5 4440 is cheaper at $177ish
 - I personally think the N200 looks nice, but both that and the Line-M are good
 - The PNY ssd isn't on sale anymore, despite pcpartpicker saying it is, but the M500 is a good budget option
 - The motherboard is a little nicer for the extra $5, like having 4 ram slots (just in case)

If you feel like you can spend more and need more performance, let us know
