Cannot get Windows Update to work

The_Strict_Nein
Go to solution Solved by The_Strict_Nein,

Solved it, turns out that Intel's RST predecessor completely bricks Windows Update

I'm having the issue where-by Windows Update says it's not working due to the service not running. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit SP1.

If you google 'Windows 7 Professional Windows Update not working' I've tried literally everything on that first page. None of the automated utilities have done anything to help. Any advice?

EDIT:

I have literally just installed the OS, so no previous updates are installed and windows update has never worked before on this PC, hence.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - CPU Cooler: Deepcool Castle 240EX - Motherboard: MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

RAM: 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RBG 3200MHz - GPU: MSI RTX 3080 GAMING X TRIO

Is the copy legit? If not that may be the problem.

If that's Microsoft's automated tool it doesn't work. It just instantly says there has been problem and goes no further
