Dell XPS M1710's Faith

DabzerG

My M1710 is lying around and I don't know what to do with the pc now since none of the games I play will run on the pc. What should I do with it?

Look, I'm a fan of *nix, but a modern kernel and DE on that old thing will not revitalize it. You'll need to choose a distro much more carefully.

One of the things we ought to have as a sticky someplace, is current *nix distros and what works best for what era your CPU is. That Core Duo XPS? Something super simple in an XFCE or lighter DE. And even then, the latest kernel may crush it flat, depending on how much RAM it has and if the hard drive is 3600rpm or 4200rpm (or we get lucky and the OP has a 5400rpm drive(

But even then, trying to browse YouTube, regardless of the OS on it, may not be worth it.  Dunno, that laptop is pretty modest.
