Do you need Xbox live gold to play apex legends?

On PS4 I know you don't require PS plus to play apex and warzone, is this the same for Xbox?

Microsoft requires XBL gold for all online multiplayer, even for free/payed games. This might cange on the next colsole gen.

That's a bit shitty of them, my brother isn't looking at buying next gen, he just wants a platform he can play apex on other than my PC, he's only 13 so he doesn't have the money for any of that, thanks anyways

XSS? It will be like 300$. IDK if he can pay for it. There's also supposed to be a 25$ a month financing option for the XSS.

Yeah I already heard about that, my brother was looking to just pick up a current console and play, ps4s hold their value pretty well compared to an Xbox, but he has no interest in the new consoles and prefers Sony anyway, he just likes to play apex legends occasionally, so I don't think he'll be financing a console any time soon

If you look online you can find XBL passes for pretty cheap. Usually works out to a few dollars a month.
