keylogger to map out most used keys

MatsNorway

Hi.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a key logger that register the number of key presses and is able to sort it by software for instance.

I am planning a keyboard from scratch as a school project so it have to be based upon some kind of logic such as more common used keys in a Adobe or Autodesk software.

Given the chance of uh. scary software i thought i might hear around first.

I've never heard of a keylogger used in a non malicious way. The chances of you finding one that's trustworthy is low (though I doubt any will cause a problem given the nature of them)

Either @piratemonkey or quote me when responding to me. I won't see otherwise

Put a reaction on my post if I helped

I've heard of WhatPulse (and even use it once i think)

though I suggest you look into its credibility before using it.

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I checked it out and it looked fine, but i do not trust anything that requires registration to be used.

WhatPulse. I have sort of memory of something, but I don't remember whether it was WhatPulse or something else. There's thread about it somewhere on forums too.

Legimacy of something like this comes down to what the use case is and is target aware of it. For example school installing this to their computers has reason for doing so. But I think in most places if such monitoring software is installed, they are required to notify user about it. By using machine user agrees on monitoring software being there. Keep that in mind.

Odd logic, but sure. IIRC registration is to sync results over multiple machines.

Just to kill that discussion. It will not go on a school PC.

Oh that is fancy but once data goes out i dislike it. And there is no local only option.

Found these:

http://loggerman.org/  (mac only)

https://www.inputlog.net/

http://www.blacksunsoftware.com/mousotron.html

https://github.com/UsageStats/UsageStats

Loggerman looks nice, just need to find a source that states so and is to be trusted.

Loggerman is mac only :(

Arg. Inputlog failed at registration..  That is why i just stop once you ask to register. Not worth the time, shady and bug rich
