yes you can do that

If so, would the performance hit of running the two monitors even be worth assigning a 2nd gpu to the 2nd monitor?

no, you'll see close to no performance impact by running two monitor from the same GPU, unless you're doing something on the other display that uses GPU as well (youtube and discord are fine)

generally i wouldnt recommend adding a 2nd GPU just for adding additional display, unless you need a specific port and you dont want to get an adapter

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to PCs and I'm going to be building a new computer soon. I have an old GPU (1050ti, had for about 2 years now) lying around alongside the monitor from my old PC (which I would like to be used as a 2nd monitor)

Here's my question:

Would it be possible to use my new GPU (2060 super) to power my new monitor while using my old 1050Ti to power the old monitor? If so, would the performance hit of running the two monitors even be worth assigning a 2nd gpu to the 2nd monitor? I mainly intend to use it for viewing YouTube content and discord usage alongside some occasional web browsing. I'm sure this question has been answered endless times here, but I'm curious. My new PC will have no integrated graphics, due to the CPU being a Ryzen 5 3600. Thanks in advance.

Here are the monitors in case this information is needed: (I know these are FreeSync panels, I've never really cared about the technology enough to switch to AMD GPUs and don't want to take the price hitch of switching to Gsync.)

PRIMARY: https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-G241 (Via Displayport 1.2a) (144hz) (1080p)

SECONDARY: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/model/UM.WX1EE.005 (Via HDMI - unsure of the version) (75hz) (1080p)
