What's the best 5600XT or 2060 model at my price point?

Hi folks,

Having not built a PC for a decade, I'm playing around with some ideas for a new build.

I've currently got the following GPUs on my shortlist:

  • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB OC Video Card - £299.51
  • Gigabyte Radeon RX 5600 XT 6 GB GAMING OC Video Card - £282.95 (normally it's been around the £269 mark but has gone up)

I'm not looking to decide between AMD and Nvidia right now; and I'm aware of the Big Navi and the 30XX range announcements expected in September/October and will wait for them before doing anything. However, I suspect that the 4060  and next gen equivalent to the 5600XT will not be out until next year so may end up buying a current gen card if the price drops.

To be honest I get lost with all the different versions of graphics cards available. At this price point are there are better versions of the 5600XT or 2060 I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance.

the gigabyte 5600xt model is decent, unless you're streaming/ need nvec, a 5600xt will perform the same.

though i would get a pulse model which usually comes flashed with the new bios, with higher power limits  and the frame buffer is faster.

Fun Fact: The Meshify c is the best case to ever exist.

Interesting thanks, I'll take a look at the Sapphire Pulse version as it's a very similar price. I'll never be streaming, but the DLSS/RTX capability of the 2060 is appealing if next-gen console games are all going to have real time ray tracing...

The sapphire pulse doesn't seem to be too much more, and it's one of the best models

At this point, I would pick the 2060 due to DLSS. It is the only thing that guarantees some sort of future-proofing.

Except AMD has Radeon Boost, for free fps while in motion, and Radeon Image Sharpening which works everywhere to cheat out more performance.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

at least today, they're barely used in any game. the 5600xt is usually  cheaper and usually performs the same.

Thanks Oswin - would you expect these cheaper models to deliver very similar performance to the two I'd picked?

the KO which is only made by EVGA performs better than the regular 2060 but slower than the Super, the price on that is actually pretty good since it is usually at £300+.

Oh wow good to know as that's at the same price point as the 5600XT, thanks.

if you would still want to consider a 5600xt just make sure it can be updated to the new 14 Gbps Bios
