ASUS PRIME B460 & H470 PLUS

Both these boards have exact same VRM config, would it be a bad idea to put in a high end CPU into these? Such as a i7-10700F?

Haven't checked these boards yet so I'm not 100% sure on their vrm solution

But looking at it. Doesn't seem like it's the best.

The B460 version is very cheap, other pros is I can recycle my PCI wifi card and 212 Evo cooler! :3

Getting an unlocked sku with a z board will probably be worth the extra money 

The a pro which is one of the cheaper z490 boards is pretty good and the z490 p. 

One gimmick this board has is APE which basically sets a higher power limit to the cpu 

But as I said , it's a gimmick and it never actually does anything. Not to mention the horrible memory overclocking in h and b series LGA 1200 boards. 

Something more expensive would be the tomahawk, which runs 12 55A mosfets and can easily handle even an overlocked 10900k 

Overall avoid the b and h series boards , imo 

If your looking for a budget friendly platform. Comet lake really isn't, ryzen is.

That doesn't mean there won't be any benifits with higher frequencies.

As I said. Getting a locked cpu and a b series board isn't necessarily the best budget option. Unless you can maybe stretch your budget and get a k with a z series board

Will it be bad? No. 

Will it be bad value? Yes.

True I agree if it was the 10400F with 2666MHz since that thing is terrible in comparison to a 3600 with 3200MHz CL16 sticks, on the other hand B550 boards is kinda limited at the moment. Then again going with another B450 is also a option... :I

You could go with either way 

It's just if your on a budget. B and h series boards are certainly not the way to go.

if i was in your place, i would go with a 10600k and a good z490 motherboard.

or maybe wait a bit until you can afford at least a 10700kf and a decent motherboard.

But I believed B stood for budget LMAO also what I mainly like about the B460 board is the PCI slot... I am left with 2 fully working wifi cards! XD

Or what about 10600KF into B460? The VRM looks solid enough it seems to be same VRM as the TUF variant of the B460... :3

There is no review about the board... Not even the H470, anyhows mainly I want the 4.8GHz turbo so what ever is cheaper of 10600 or KF model I guess? But the i7 looks kind anice to.

I guess around 120-130usd but 25% of that is tax so sub 100usd board I guess...

Just save up for an unlocked i5 or i7 with a good z motherboard.

You will thank yourself after a couple of years as stronger gpus can benefit from higher clock speed since im sure that youre not replacing the cpu every 3 or 4 years like a gpu and since k versions can get to higher clocks its better to go with them over the non k versions.

How about the z490-p 

It's the cheapest acceptable z490 board and it will be a whole lot worth it.

Well I do think cores is the future, OC cannot compensate for cores... I tried trust me! XD (nearly fried the Athlon X4 880K)

Yeah well the idea was more cores preferable to compensate for the long term (worked with FX) and the AMD options is tricky since getting a pricey board for wifi or buy anther wifi card sounds kinda wasteful, now I have one extra PCI based wifi cards laying around, increasing it to two sounds bad! XD (plus can use 212 Evo on the Intel chip)

Of course core are far more important then overclocking capabilities.

Just save for a 10700kf or get a 3700x
