AIO sounds way too much

Greetings,

after 2 years of use my cooler master 120mm AIO (https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/cpu-liquid-coolers/masterliquid-ml120l-rgb/) is making this watery noise (turn up the volume to hear it). Also it makes sometimes this sound (second video, turn up the sound).

I did everything: remove the pump from the CPU and apply new thermal coumpound, put the radiator horizontal, put the pump horizontal, shake it etc...

The only thing that worked was to put totally horizontal the whole computer, I let it for 30 minutes and it did not make any noise then I put it back to normal (vertical) and it still make that noise lets say 50% of the time the other time is completely silence.

The pump is always at 100% because is very silent, if I put it on less RPM is makes weird noises.

can I do something to fix it? Thank you.

I have got:

That's the sound of the pump dying a painful death. Running the pump at 100 percent is like running your car with the pedal to the metal, just NOT a good idea.

I fix computers and computer accessories... sometimes... when I want to...

These are sealed systems, they're not designed to leak/evaporate liquid.

I didn't listen to your video cuz I can't right now. I had an issue with my ekwb pump once, it sounded like there was a bubble in it. The actual problem was that a piece of metal on the impeller's shaft got worn, so the impeller had some axial play. I made some plastic washers out of a piece of thick foil I had lying around, and it's fine ever since.

This would explain why your aio doesnt make a sound when it's horizontal. Gravity stabilizes the impeller and it stops moving up and down

If I open the pump do I need to refill the whole thing?

sorry for being so late.

Naturally, you cannot avoid draining at least some of the liquid out of it.

The difficult part is mixing new liquid that won't destroy the loop.

Refilling can be done in a large container, so that you can submerge the radiator and the tube in the liquid, and reattach the tube while the pump is running. There is at least one video about this > click. (6.30)

What percent should the pump run at then?

Yes, the username is cringe.

Sounds like debris in your fluid, which will eventually break the fins on your pump, rendering it useless. My first suggestion would be to check your warranty and see if you're eligible for a replacement (even if you're technically out of warranty, contact CM and see what they'll do). If that's a no-go, you do have the option of disassembling the unit and attempting drain/refill yourself. I don't necessarily recommend doing so, as it's difficult to do and may guarantee the death of it, but it is an option.

If you end up purchasing another AIO, I would strongly recommend Corsair over CM. Corsair offers a 5 year warranty, and the two that I own (H100i and H80i GT) are still going strongly after several years.

Yeah I'm pretty puzzled by this comment too. I've always run AIO pumps at 100% and never once had an issue even after 3+ years of heavy use on a manufacturer refurbished unit. Most of them have huge MTBF values, upwards of 5 years of normal use.

The person that said running pumps at 100% is bad compared a small electric motor to a car engine. Obviously they know not of what they speak.
