Computer Not Detecting Microphone But Detecting Headphones

So I've been using the Asus Vivobook 14 X412DA for about 6 months now and my G432 had been working fine on it up until about a week ago when it would detect it as only headphones and without a microphone (yes I did try going into sound settings and setting it as default, it said the microphone was not plugged in). I found that if I went into Synaptics Smartaudio 3 and set jack retasking to make it a microphone it would input sound but not output audio. Could anybody help?

If you can get it to work as either mic or headphones by retasking the jack, then it may be an issue with the connector (whether the male or the female part) preventing all three pieces making contact.
