Dell not recognizing more RAM

To start off with, I apologize if this needs to go into a different forum.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15-3552 with 4gb RAM. I decided to upgrade the memory from 4 gb to 8 gb.

The original memory: 4gb DDR3 (came with the computer, single stick)

The new memory: Pacific Sun 8gb PC3-12800 (1600MHz) DDR3.

The laptop detects that the amount of memory has changed, however in the bios (and control panel) it still only shows 4 gb of memory.
There is no apparent way to change it from the bios which is running 4.4.0 (the latest version).

Pacific Sun was told about the issue and claimed that the new memory "should work."

Computer OS: windows 10,  64 bit

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

reset cmos and see if it works

What is the best way to do this without removing the CMOS battery?

To remove the CMOS battery requires taking almost everything out of the laptop case.
