GX-550 vs RM550x fan

dahyippur

Looking for fully modular, fairly quiet 550+ psu around $90. These 2 seem to be my best options. I've had too many psu with fans that give out or rattle over the years. Any reason to believe one is superior or will last longer?

What is "GX-550"?  The Cougar GX 550?  The Cooler Master GX 550?

Gotta link?  I thought the Focus 550W were FX (SSR-550FX) and not "GX".  There's an SFX version of 550W that's called GX, but that's an SFX-L PSU.  Kind of comparing apples with bananas.  AATX vs. SFX-L.  What is it you actually need?

It changed when Seasonic changed naming schemes. Now all of Seasonic's fully modular 80+ Gold power supplies are "GX"

Nobody knows about the GX-550 because nobody's reviewed one.

If we look at the "old" Focus 550W on Cybenetics, we can see that it got an "A" noise rating.  The RM550x got an A++ noise rating.

The RMx is quieter, has better transient response performance, and has better fans. Newer Seasonic GX series is just FX with minor tweaks and OCP fixes.

As we said, there are no info about it. We only know that it works according to Amazon Reviews. Amazon reviews do not tell anything useful really.

We need proper tea rdowns, pics from the inside and reviews. Thats how we do our tier list. It is what it is

All PSUs are suspect until the professional tear down/testing reviews are done.

Actually, if you look at our spreadsheet, there is a Chinese review that tests the PSU in great details (like Aris).
