Create a dedicated Gaming VM in linux

I'm looking to switch away from windows as I generally dislike almost everything about it, but I dont wanna use wine, so i was wondering if i could create a windows VM in linux and dedicate the GPU to it to play my games on (and use some windows specific software development tools), and use linux for my other stuff.
I have a multi monitor setup too, where I have the monitors connected to the GPU, there arent enough ports on the motherboard to have the displays run off of it, but I do have onboard video for the linux system.
What VM software would you recommend for this use case and any tips how to set this up or things like that, I've never really used VMs so I'm a total noob here.
Anyone can tell me how to set this up would be amazing. (I also want to have this kind of setup for my laptop, which also has a dedicated GPU)

Thanks in advance!

Later today I'm going to be posting a Tutorial on how you can do this on Ubuntu 19.04 without having to sacrifice a monitor.

It should also be possible with Linux Mint, PopOS, etc but some steps will be a little different.

Okay cool!
I'll probably be using manjaro, but I'm confident with linux, so the different steps shouldn't be a problem
Thanks!

Manjaro is based on Arch Linux. My Tutorial is based on Debian. The steps are going to be vastly different. If you want to go with Manjaro the Tutorial won't be of significant help.

Should still give you a general idea of the basic requirements though.

Yeah i know, but thats the thing I just want to know the general idea i will find my way from there, I'm fine with figuring the alternatives out for arch based distros, I just need to know what to figure out if that makes sense

Standard rules will still apply, VT-x, VT-d, SVM, IOMMU, Memory Interleave, IOMMU groups, overriding device drivers, etc.

It'll get you off the ground at least. Will post here when it's up.
