Graphics card on a budget 1660S or 1070

Hello peeps,

 

I am building a pc for my brother and i am on a budget. I've made him a pc with a ryzen 2 2600 16 gb of ram a b450m ds3h mobo(those 3 are already bought and the storage)and now i am wandering what should i get him for a graphics card a gtx 1660 super or a second hand gtx 1070. I am learning towards a 1660 super because i get a warranty with it but the 1070 seems to be a bit better and it is 25-35% cheaper.

I'd go with the 1070.

I would go new 1660 super because it a new pc. 1070 is much better card but it a second hand and you don't know the seller a take it ?

Yes i don't know the seller but some of them would let me test the gpu before buying it. And i am thinking that a gpu can't really go bad am i right?

Yea you should be good if they let you test it just make sure it clean and it works and the fan spins

As long as you can test the 1070 out before purchase, I would buy second-hand. Mostly since the 1070 gets more FPS on average (only like a 3-5 frame difference, but it's cheaper too)

 

Honestly, the only two reasons you would get the 1660 Super is if you would be using the newer NVENC that is in the newer cards and still have similar performance as the 1070, and wanted a warranty in case anything happens to the card.
