Upgraded RAM to 16 gb but it still shows 8 gb

I'm not one who builds PCs. I get pre-built systems. Today I got one more stick of RAM. It's a different brand than the first stick if that helps. But when I installed it and all, it wouldn't show up! Please help!

Did you check to make sure it was the same frequency and timing?

Is the RAM in the correct DIMM for your motherboard?

They're both ddr4. that's all I know

Okay, just curious:

-What prebuilt system are you talking about?

-What type of RAM are you trying to add (the sticker on the RAM should have P/N or the information)?

-Is the RAM not showing at BIOS or not showing in Windows? Can you check your BIOS if the system can detect the newly installed RAM?

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.
