Laptop i5 or i7

I was looping to get a new laptop and saw the lenovo IdeaPad s540 and i was wondering if I should pick the i5 or i7 model


I want to use this for school,

stuff like programming (visual studio, psych arm etc) some light editing in premiere pro 1080p

and just daily stuff watching YouTube and browsing and stuff and maybe some light gaming 

 

i5 and i7 otter specs
1650 Max q 

8gb ram 

512gb ssd

 

and is 8gb enough?

it is possible to upgrade it to 12gb for 30 euros

If you have the money there then why not?

 

The RAM upgrade is 100% worth it and if the price difference is not alot between i5 & i7 and you have that extra money then really it's a no brainer!

what i7 and i5 is it?

it's not the i7 or i5 that matters as much as the numbers after.

i work on an i3.8109u since it's an 8th gen cpu it's still fairly new and works very well for work.

but if it's an i7-3000 series and an i5-7000 series then the i5 is much better

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

The price difference is an is 100 euros but I kinda do have the money on one side but on the other side I don’t  I’m hasitating

I5 8265U

and

i7 8565U

 

and I just found out the i7 model has 60hz display and the i5 model 50hz

You might not see ther performance increase depedning on your use case?

 

The RAM kinda feels like a "sure why not" but for 130 Euros all in it seems like a no brainer to upgrade the RAM and CPU, at least it'll be kinda more future proof.

It'll be good for maybe 3 years and beyond just depends on how you use it and assuming it has an SSD...

is very good you don't need to upgrade to the other cpu if it's just for school work.

you don't need extra ram in your computer since you will only be doing light gaming but the choice is honestly up to you.

there won't be a preformance differnece that is super noteable.

the display in the computer should be the same and it isn't affected that much by your cpu unless you use integrated graphics

i can only see 3 versions

and only one of them has a graphics card.

so i'd definitly suggest that one since integrated graphics really don't do well with any gaming

In my country on another website also is a i5 with 1650 model but that’s the model yes

yea. it doesn't really matter which one you pick.

the cpu isn't going to make a huge difference for a long time.

and the refreshrate screen you mentioned was probably with integrated graphics turned on.

i've never seen a normal pc screen with 50hz refreshrate
