Yep, pushed it out to many of my test systems with WSUS, no issues yet, and updates in about 2 min and tiny download. I think the files were in a previous update file. Make backup, do update.

how do u do a backup?? Ive tried to but every time I do it just fails to do so. Or it creates a bootable backup that then fucks up where ever I put the thing.

If u want a response then YOU'D best Quote me so I can see it.

Shouldn't have to say this but the few ruin it for them all......

Just copy your files to another drive so the update can't possibly mess with them.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I've tried that but If I move the file where windows stuck it it just makes a NEW ONE. In that same spot

So I've given up at this point even worse when i make a backup it says its a windows 7 backup. When I've never even used windows 7 on this PC it came from a win 10 key like wth??

It sounds like you're trying to involve other software and over complicate this in some way.  Literally just open file browser and copy files.  If you'd like a script that's an option but it's not necessary.

If files on a generic storage device unmanaged by other software are randomly moving around and being recreated after you've deleted them then you have malware

i don't think so, again its acting as if when I move the backup its now not there which I guess it isn't. But it then creates a new one cause it thinks its deleted I guess. Why would u magically think its malware. And ya what malwares sole purpose is to be a little bitch about moving my files around. Genius.

Well nothing else on the system will move your files around without asking

Out of hundred of million users, you are bound to have some people, which we know nothing on their system, it's state (uses crap software, has malware, has or had viruses (remember anti-virus only removes the infection, not fix system files and registry changes that may have been done.), faulty RAM or some other hardware, uses a non-genuine Windows, modified system files for something, etc.). On top of things, high end consumer hardware is only 97-98% reliable (that is why server space company pay a hearty premium, for a massive diminished return to reach 99%)

That said I am not saying that Windows Updates are 100% perfect either. In the sense that they are countless combinations of hardware, software, and driver versions, it is impossible to test everything.

My suggestions are, before updating

  • Make sure all your drivers are fully updated, including stuff like printer, webcam, audio, keyboard and mouse.
  • Make sure your anti-virus and all other security software are fully updated or temporarily uninstall them, update and re-install them
  • Make sure that your installed games are fully updated (This actually affects 1903, ignore this if you are already on it). It has to do security issue fixed and Anti-Cheat software using an exploit or non-documented / non-supported APIs tondo their work. Microsoft has worked with various Anti-Cheat system company to solve this, but the games that are affected needs to be updated. BSOD or fail update may occur.
