Windows 10 / Windows XP Dual Boot?

pstarlord

So, I'm building a PC for a friend.  His current PC is just a hot mess, some cheap dell office PC he bought second hand that barely functions, so I'm going to gift him a new one.  Nothing crazy, but something perfect for his needs.

One of the main reasons he has been reluctant to get a new PC is one piece of software that he uses isn't supported on Windows 10.  It's an older, but great, software for notation.  My friend is a guitar teacher, and he uses this software to make the lessons for his students.  I've tried it on my Win10 PC and it's not a very good experience.

Anyway, long story short. Am I able to set up a dual boot drives, on with Windows 10 and one with XP?  Does XP even work on modern hardware?

Can you run a windows xp vm and run the software in there? XP won't work on modern hardware, I think it was last supported on fx and ivy bridge era hardware.
