How do you USB tether?

I know this sounds like a weird question but well heres whats going on. Im trying to use Vridge which basically allows you to use your phone as a vr headset and its really nice but the wifi version is very laggy. I was trying to use the usb method of connecting my phone to my computer and discovered that it required usb tethering which At&t disables it basically as soon as i flip the switch. Im not connected to the internet at all through usb tethering. Im just connecting to my laptop so is there any way to get around that restriction. I tried to do the process with both devices in airplane mode but then I just got a network error. Help. Thank you

What phone is it? Lightning supports ethernet over it but I am not sure if it is bidirectional as it's meant to be used when the phone is a hotspot

Can you clarify if you are trying to use your phone mobile data on your PC or do you want to use your PC internet connection to get internet on your phone.

 

I'll assume its the first.

So what your saying is that when you have your phone plugged into the PC and go into the settings then usb tethering and turn that it, it turns off you mobile data?

 

If this is software side on your phone then you can flash your phone. (Please be aware that this will most likely void your warranty).

Or Use some tethering app to see if you can avoid this.

Or I would recommend speaking to At&t and telling that you plan to use another provider on that phone and you need that "restriction" taken off.

 

I have never seen this happen, network providers shouldn't be able to do that at least in the EU they can't.

im not doing either. I am just using it for my phone to communicate to my vr headset but i need usb tethering to be on for it to do so. There is not internet being passed either way. That's why none of the side tethering apps i have found work because im just trying to use the usb c connection and not the internet. I may talk to AT&T though
