AMD A8 Pure Rock Slim Issues

That's normal. The two coolers perform similarly.

There's little to no regulation on how tdp is measured between manufacturers so they're really only useful for comparing coolers from the same product line or manufacturer. Even then, they're not very reliable for comparing performance. Look at benchmarks and in-depth reviews instead.

Im kinda a noob with this stuff but I just replaced my Noctua NH-D9L today with a Pure Rock Slim since I saw it has a higher tdp rating. However the temps seem to be exactly the same if not a bit hotter (79 Celsius)! I used the pre applied thermal paste first but then switched to noctuas paste and the temps only dropped by 2 degrees Celsius. Anyone have a clue what im doing wrong?

APU: AMD A8 6600k at 4.3GHz default/normal voltage

I did over clock the graphics side of it to 1045MHz as well
