Having a hard time choosing curved ultrawide monitor

nu1mlock

Hello,

I've got an Asus ROG PG278QR coupled with a GTX 1080 Ti. The monitor is working fine, but after sitting down properly at an ultrawide monitor, I've decided that I prefer that over my current monitor.

Now, I rarely play at 144Hz anyway, so I'm absolutely okay with downgrading the refresh rate - as long as the monitor's Freesync works with my Nvidia GPU. I'm also fine with the colors not being "as good" (whatever that means in this context) as my current monitor.

That being said, I've been looking at some cheap Korean monitors or rebranded ones. As I live in Sweden, the monitors I can choose from isn't exactly that many when it comes to cheap ultrawide monitors. These are the cheapest options I have:

ElectriQ 35" (35CMUWQ100GAFSH?):
This is the cheapest one at only €401 including shipping from UK to Sweden. Has 2 year warranty. Also a "5 point inspection" where the store checks for dead pixels etc. It might be a rebrand of the Massdrop Vast (which is in turn a rebrand of a rebrand etc). I'm going to pretend that the HDR spec simply doesn't exist on this model, even though it claims to have HDR. Has anyone used this one? Does its Freesync work with Nvidia GPU's?

MSI Optix-MAG341CQ:
The second cheapest one comes in at €571. Since this is the second cheapest - is it worth the extra €170 for whatever MSI offers over the ElectriQ?

These are the next ones in line:
Benq EX3501R (€596https://www.benq.com/en/monitor/gaming/ex3501r.html

Samsung C34H890 (€608) : https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/monitor/detail/1131/C34H890

Of course, I'm leaning towards the ElectriQ, simply due to its price. I feel more comfortable purchasing from the UK website over, for example, an Ebay seller or importing anything from the US. At least I know I have a warranty for a couple of years. I've read that it might not have great color accuracy, but that it gets better with calibration. Regardless, I'm not especially picky when it comes to colors, as long as it doesn't all look really washed out (I guess, I'm not sure how bad it can be).

On the other hand, I'm sceptical of the ElectriQ because I have no idea what it actually is. At least with MSI I know that they're capable of making quality products (not that it matters if the MSI monitor isn't a quality product).

I'd very much appreciate your thoughts on the matter, and if anyone have experience with the mentioned monitors, please chime in!

Thanks!

If you wouldn't mind going 1080p u could check out the LG-34UC79G-B or maybe a 1440p variant the LG-34GL750 if the price is right from where you could buy them.

Unfortunately, as I've tasted the sweetness of 1440p, I can't go down to 1080p again, even if it's an ultra wide. Or honestly, I don't know if I'd be annoyed by the lowered resolution or not, but since I have no way of trying I guess I have to assume that I shouldn't buy a new monitor with a lower resolution.

The 34GL750 isn't ultra wide, so that monitor isn't interesting.

You're totally right, I don't know what monitor I must've found. Anyway, that monitor is likely named something else in Europe, but price wise a similar monitor here is the same price as the above mentioned ElectriQ.

Thanks for the suggestions though! I'll look into 1080p ultra wide, but my initial feeling is that it'll be too low resolution for the size (which would have to be 34", as I won't be getting a smaller monitor than I already have).
