Brand new processor in an old board, did you update the BIOS yet?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

yes it needs a BIOS update. If it doesnt have a BIOS flashback feature that will allow you to flash the BIOS without a CPU, you will need to find a 1st or 2nd gen ryzen CPU to use to update the BIOS with.

AMD used to send out dummy chips to upgrade your bios, you can try contacting them to see if they'll send you one (you'll have to send it back when you're done). Or you could buy a 2xxx chip, use it to update the BIOS and return it to the store though that's not a very nice thing to do.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Question is will they work properly, as the new BIOS does not support Bristol Ridge APUs.

Luckily, Ryzen 1200 is dirt cheap these days

I had a similar issue once... and guess what... I had a small piece of dust between the cpu and the board, check the cpu... it worth the try... sometimes its so small that you dont notice when mounting... specialy with the exitment of the new CPU. :P

But u can also try with a new PSU, try to unplug everything... and boot with only the cpu connected. You must ear the boot beep.

CPU: AMD 3700x 4300mhz 1.3v                                                     Cooling: CoolerMaster ML240L

Motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming X570-PLUS (Wi-Fi)                    RAM: 2x8GB G.SKILL 3600MHz Trident Z RGB CL16

PSU: BitFenix Whisper M 750W 80+ Gold                                      GPU: ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Twin Fan 8GB GD6

If the board doesn't have the Ryzen 3000 sticker on the box then the BIOS isn't current enough.

Hi !

My opinion is that you chek how fast your memory is .

That board is max. on 3200 Ram.
Maybe your ram is higher than 3200 so it can be a problem. For example 3466

I hope that this will solve up your problem. Please if does , inform

me because , I am plan to build same platform new 3600 with same aorus board.

Good luck !

Yeah, I'd be really interested. I got basically the same situation. B450 Aorus Elite + ryzen 3600. DId you just pop in a gen1/2 ryzen without any other changes and it booted to meny and from there used a flashdrive to uppdate?

Hey there, I have the same problem,

same motherboard and CPU,

Delta R T-Force 16GB RGB and

Gigabyte GeFoce GTX 1660 OC 6G

How did you update the BIOS when the keyboard and Monitor is not functional? Did you change your chipset? and if you did, what chipset were you using to update it?

You can't change the chipset, the easiest method is to just put in an older CPU that works natively with B450 (1st or 2nd gen Ryzen)

Or if its an MSI/certain ASUS boards you might have BIOS flashback function that lets you update the BIOS without a CPU entirely. Last time I checked Gigabyte and Asrock do not have this function on their motherboards.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600  Heatsink: ID-Cooling Frostflow X GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB RAM: KLEVV Bolt 3600Mhz (2x8GB) Mobo: ASUS B550-F ROG Strix (Wifi)  Case: Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: Deepcool DQ-M-V2L

I took it back from my local pc shop where i bought it and they updates it

They had to use a 2nd gen ryzen to boot up to bios (yes 1st gen  will do too)

2x bios update was done. One was f32v and f40v....theres a new update on bios which is the agesa update f41v

theres no other way but to install an older ryzen gen cpu to boot up and update bios since our board do not support backflash (mostly msi boards has that function) but not on gigabytes mobos

For the ones that don't have the money to buy a 1st gen or 2nd gen CPU and return it, just go for the AMD 200GE. It's the actual loaner CPU AMD will send you and did just fine for me,same Mobo. Good luck!

  • 4 months later...

Had the same issue:
ryzen 5 3600

gigabyte b450 aorus elite

Wouldnt boot up (not even to bios), red light on for cpu.

after taking it to a local computer shop store, the upgraded the bios, and now the MOBO recognizes the cpu.

Its truly amazing what a shit job amd and/or mobo suppliers pulled off with this one.
