Best setup for 1080p/1440p 60fps?

Well, the title explains it all. I'm tired of playing TF2 on 720p medium settings on my i3 6100 + GT 730 and I'm looking to make a new PC.

I have a LG Ultrawide (1440p, 60Hz) right now and I really want to game full screen on it.

I'm considering an AMD CPU since they're cheaper then Intel. Should I wait for 3rd gen or just go and buy 2nd gen?

What GPU is the best for 1440p/1080p?

Also question: Would an AMD CPU perform well on DirectX 9?

What do you play besides TF2? If you play a lot more modern games then a 3rd gen Ryzen wouldn't be a bad choice.

A girl who loves to love.

If you want new parts I'd wait for third gen Ryzen, it's only a few weeks away.

If you're fine with used, I'd look into a i7 6700/7700 as you'll only need to swap the CPU.

As for the GPU, it depends on what games you play, if it's light stuff like TF2 or you're willing to tinker with settings you'll be fine with an RX 580 at 1440p. If you want to max everything out I'd look into a Vega 56, or the upcoming RX 5700 XT depending on how well it actually performs in reviews.

I need an entirely new setup, and I do want to make it by mid July.

I've been considering a RX 580/90, Vega 56 and RTX 2060. Obviously the RTX is the best choice in performance but is way too expensive

I right now TF2 and nothing else, but I'm planning to buy Hitman and some other major titles.

Is that within budget?

Really the 1660Ti is a fine entry level 1440p card. Especially since you've got a 60hz refresh on it.

The RTX 2060 would be a better choice if you could squeeze it.

I think at this point you'd be a fool not to see what Zen 2 looks like. We are so close.

Just wait a couple of weeks.

What is your current spec ? As you might be able to reuse some parts like the storage and maybe psu and ram etc.

I have almost no parts that I can reuse. The only thing that could be reused is a 500GB Western Digital SSD.

My previous setup was

i3-6100

GT 730

8GB DDR3

OEM mobo

500GB WD SSD

OEM Case (way too small form factor to reuse)

1 case fan (lol)

I don't even know what CPU cooler I have
