The Blues have hysteresis, which makes them bad for competitive gaming. Linear switches are generally the most recommended for competitive gaming, as they should be most responsive.

I vouch for red switches, but outemu is garbo. Have it on my current board and they're scracthy as all hell.

First off, if you can, try and get a mech with cherry mx,.as it's more reliable and actuation distance is even throughout. If you can't help it, reds are the way to go for competitive, but any mech will work fine.

If you recommend them to get a more expensive keyboard, why not recommend that they get one with actually decent switches, and not Cherry MX? Budget mechanical keyboards often use low end Outemu switches, so you could assume that their budget is quite low.

I am a little confused about your wording, could you explain in different words please?
