$500 Monitor??

MechaToaster

Im looking for a monitor for around $500 U.S dollars, I would love it if it would have 144 Hz, at least 27" inch.

CPU: i5-9600K

GPU: RTX 2070

I think $500 is a little overkill for a 144hz monitor. That's the 240hz range for a price ?

The one below has free sync but I think is compatible with Gsync with updated drivers (don't quote me on that)

Anything in the list above at 144hz will be a good choice!

you know not everything has to be 1080p, right?

anything here well reviewed (bonus points if people confirm it works well with gsync for the ones w/o a gsync module) would be good: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#W=2690,6500&T=1,4&D=144000,240000&r=344001440,256001440&i=50&sort=price&A=1,2

Depends on the game and the settings you want to run it at. Max settings, most games wont hit above 100fps@1440p with only a 2070

"most games"???

we have different definitions of "most".

But, for the few AAA games that really will kill your card, I mean, who needs 16x AA and all the other crap that kills your framerate when you can have a higher resolution?

But with a 2080 you can turn on all AA methods and max out the nv panel and turn on all options and set to high quality plus in game set to max I get triple digit framerates above 144hz then sometimes dip a bit, but that is what Freesync is for, now that nVidia cards can use it.

Look a 2060 is a 1080p card.

2070 will give you 1440p

2080 is also for 1440p with nv panel maxed like I said before

2080Ti is a 4k video card, @ 60fps.

In this case then how would a proper 144-240 Hz, 1080p, G-sync monitor. Would that be in the 500 dollar price point.

(at max settings). yes. totally agree.

So the question OP needs to answer is: what games are you playing, and what settings do you want to have for them? I'd check benchmarks that use those settings and see how you should expect your performance to be.

I imagine unless you're running something with RTX enabled, or cranked settings on anthem or something like that, you'll be alright

You can totally get 144Hz 1440p with freesync or gsync at that price point. And as alluded to before, unless you're cranking settings on the most demanding games out there, you're totally going to be getting your money's worth out of that panel. See my link below for some options.

If you're a competitive FPS player or smth, then I might go 240Hz just cause that's "better" for competitive people. But for the average gamer, a higher resolution will be better than the jump from 144 to 240hz
