1ms Monitor Response Time vs 2ms

Just a quick question, is it really that noticeable of a difference between a 1ms response time monitor and a 2ms response time monitor? I'm getting a 75hz 1ms monitor, but for $40 cheaper I could get a 75hz 2ms monitor. Everything else like native resolution, colour depth and contrast ratio etc. is identical, so it's down to 1ms vs 2ms. What do y'all think?

hard to say, because this "response time" figure doesnt have a universal testing method. It's not comparable.

1ms is probably grey to grey, that about equals 2ms black to black. The monitors might be the same.

As i have mentioned plenty of times in the forums here, and as stated by @Jurrunio, resposne time figures stated by manufactuers are pritty much irrelivant.

There is no industry wide standard, so you cant compare them, additional these figures are almost always incorrect anyway.

 

A 1ms advertised monitor is likely to be a 4 to 6ms monitor in actuality, and a 4ms monitor a 10ms screen, which each monitor speced at a given speed ,even within the same manufactuer, actually havign different response times.

 

In addtion to this, you will find monitors speced for 144hz or even 240hz having resposne times too slow to be paired with a high refresh, making said high refresh somewhat lackluster.

A 'true' 4ms or faster 144hz display will look better than a 'true' 6ms 240hz display, as a true 4ms pixel transition speed is capable of keeping up with a 144hz refresh speed (6.94ms frame time), whilst a 6ms pixel speed cannot keep up with a 240hz refresh (4.16ms frame time).

 

Your best bet is, when you find a monitor, or multiple monitors u liek the look of, find reviews that actualy tests them thoroughly, like resposne time, input lag, viewing angles, uniformity, color accruacy, gamut etc.
