• Last week YouTube banned more than 400 channels and disabled comments on tens of millions of videos to stop pedophile activity

• Now, YouTube has disabled comments on ALL videos containing minors

  • Some YouTube channels run by minors are allowed to continue having comments

  • However they must moderate using YouTube’s tools AND manually

• Huge conversation right now about how safe digital platforms are for children

  • Other YouTube videos have been identified that splice in self-harm instructions to seemingly innocuous children’s videos

  • Tik Tok fined 5.7M for violating children’s privacy (collecting personal information for persons under 13 without parental consent

    • App is now required to age-gate the full Tik-Tok experience - younger users get more minimal features

• Meng Wanzhou has been held in Vancouver over alleged violations of U.S. trade sanctions with Iran - govt. Announced it will grant the US’s request for extradition

  • Wanzhou is the daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei

  • Her attorneys maintain she has done nothing wrong and that the US and Canada’s actions are illegal

• Separately, Huawei pleaded not guilty to charges of IP theft made by T-Mobile

  • US ISP claims that in 2014, Huawei stole tech related to T-Mobile’s phone testing robot, “Tappy”

  • Huawei blamed rogue elements within its organization for the theft - but this is only ONE report out of many that accuse the company of attempted IP theft

• Huawei took out a full page newspaper ad in several major US newspapers defending themselves against numerous accusations from the international community

  • “Don’t believe everything you hear”

  • Notes they operate in more than 170 countries, and in some of the world’s most difficult and dangerous regions - the Arctic Circle, the Sahara, South American rainforests, even Mount Everest

• Apparently the Ultrasonic fingerprint reader will not work properly with many third-party screen protectors, so Samsung included a compatible one in the box

Microsoft bringing Xbox games to Windows?

• A special version of State of Decay was included with Windows 10 Insider Preview Builds, users were asked to evaluate

  • Users poking around discovered the game file was a .xvc file, the same type used to run Xbox games

  • The game was also being downloaded from Xbox game servers rather than the Windows Store

• Microsoft is apparently making some major moves to diversify their services

Hoho, finally a true wan show again, we get the doc (THANK YOU for that), we get news on the wan show, we get real good banter, I really hope that Riley and Luke become the default hosts, they work so well.
