Softwares dissappearing from HDD.

Heyo..

 

So sometime ago I realized some programs went missing from my hdd..

thought nothing of it and re-installed them.. Just yesterday I re-installed Android Studio since it got uninstalled for some reason.

This morning I woke up my pc and saw that my Ethernet Network driver was missing..?? and EVGA LED SYNC also seems to have been uninstalleed..

what could cause this? weirdest thing ever.

Anti virus software?

Check the health of the drives. I recommend (the trial of) Hard Disk Sentinel.

Will Windows uninstall a program if it finds a bad block?

No. Nothing will.

Unless you did a snapshot with something and set to load at boot, for example Voodooshield.

If you have AV installed then it works, even if is unactivated. All its mechanisms works and only realtime protection is disabled (but files are still processed through av engine). So it may be AV, not realtime protection but other AV function.

 

I never seen harmless AV software. It mostly behaves worse than viruses.
